2016 Maison Louis Latour Andeche Chardonnay

Maison Louis Latour is one of the most innovative producers in Burgundy whilst maintaining its traditional image. With a view to expanding the business in 1979, the valley of the Ardèche river with its limestone-based soils was chosen as the ideal location to produce top-quality vin de pays Chardonnay. The wine is deliciously apple-fresh with crisp acidity and a smooth finish.

From the Wine Maker – “Golden yellow with green highlights, offering an aromatic bouquet of white flowers. Powerful and rounded with good length.”

Best with Appetizers such as; baked goat cheese, smoked fish or shellfish, oysters on the half-shell and escargots that are sautéed with garlic.

2014 Antica Chardonnay

Antica-Chardonnay

The winery is located within Napa Valley’s Atlas Peak Appellation, aptly named after Atlas Peak Mountain, which locals in-the-know also call the Blue Mountain. It’s the highest point in the region rising 2,663 feet above the valley floor. Located in Napa’s eastern hills, the peak juts out of the Vaca Range which separates Napa from the Sacramento valleys. When Piero first laid his eyes on this land, it was love at first sight. Remote, rugged, and drop-dead gorgeous, he knew that the land had the potential to make world-class wines. But not everyone was convinced. The appellation can be demanding with its high elevation, thin soils, and rocky outcrops. Yet those who see beyond its challenges are rewarded with a mountain-influenced climate with cool, wet winters and warm, dry summers.

Temperatures on the mountain are typically 10 to 15 degrees F cooler than the valley floor, and since the appellation is generally above the fog line, while it can be gray and overcast in the valley below, Atlas Peak is sunny. Yet night-time temperatures drop making it a perfect combination for growing grapes with good sugars and acid. And what that means in the end is a bottle of wine that shows off its lush fruit flavors without being flabby.

From the Wine Maker – “The elegance of the Antica Napa Valley 2014 Chardonnay is obvious in its crisp, orange blossom, fresh pear, mineral-laced, medium bodied style. This wine has superb aromatic presence with impressive purity of fruit. This is a lovely, delicately oaked, flavorful Chardonnay.”

2016 La Crema Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

la-crema-sonoma-coast-chardonnayOur original name, La Crema Vinera, means “best of the vine,” setting the standard for all we do since 1979. Our family-owned and operated winery focuses exclusively on cool-climate appellations. We’re continually exploring these very special regions – passionate in our belief that they make uniquely expressive and elegant wines.

From the Wine Maker – “This wine opens with layered aromas of fresh Meyer lemon, shortbread and ripe pear. On the palate are flavors of baked, locally grown, Gravenstein apple framed by hints of sweet spice and white peach. The end result is a broad, juicy, and beautifully balanced mouthfeel.”

Classics include cracked crab, lobster, shrimp and scallops prepared in a buttery, creamy sauce. A simple roast chicken. Butternut squash risotto is a brilliant choice. A bottle of Chardonnay will even last into the desert course. Try it with Key lime pie for a taste sensation.

2014 Talbott Kali Hart Chardonnay

talbott-chardonnay-kali-hartFrom the Wine Maker – “A pure fruit expression of our vineyard, Talbott Chardonnay, Kali Hart is lush and lively. Minimal winemaker influence allows Kali Hart Chardonnay to showcases the strength of Talbott’s estate vineyards. The rich, inviting nose shows bright tropical notes that continue on the palate, where refreshing flavors of pineapple and honeydew are complimented by refreshing acidity. A generous mid-palate leads to a long citrus and tropical fruit finish with hints of French oak and minerality. Kali Hart Chardonnay is named after Robb Talbott’s youngest daughter.”

This Chardonnay is an excellent accompaniment for fish, poultry and lightly sauced entrees. Semi-hard cheeses like Fontina, Jarlsberg, Swiss or Gouda.

2014 Bramito Chardonnay

Bramito-ChardonnayThe 2014 vintage was characterized by a mild winter with temperatures above normal seasonal averages and by abundant precipitation as well.

From the Wine Maker – “A brilliant yellow in color with greenish highlights, the wine shows fresh and complex aromas with delicate notes of tropical fruit such as pineapple and of citrus fruit, hazelnut butter, and vanilla. It is a wine of good structure, elegance, and a mineral character perceptible in its vibrant and balanced  acidity, well fused with the notes of fruit.”

2016 Butternut Chardonnay

We have sourced grapes from throughout California to create a luscious, round Chardonnay. After a rollercoaster 2015 vintage, we settled into an ideal 2016 vintage. Mellow, even weather led to normal to above average yields with tremendous quality. Wines from the 2016 vintage are crisp and vibrant. It could possibly be one of the top vintages in the last two decades.

From the winemaker – “Aromas of peach, hazelnut and spiced candied apple breeze around the brim. Round, creamy notes of fig, butterscotch and sweet oak dance on the palate.”

This Butternut Chardonnay is amazing with wild rice with toasted nuts and dried currants or crab cakes and risotto with spring vegetables.

2014 Maison Louis Latour Montagny 1er Cru

maison-louis-latour-montagny-1er-cruThe appellation of Montagny lies approximately 30 kilometres to the south of Beaune in the rolling folds and hills of the southern part of the Côte Chalonnaise. Montagny is a 100% white wine appellation originating solely from Chardonnay grapes and giving a fresh white wine that is an uncomplicated representation of its parent grape variety. The high quality of the vines is a direct consequence of their limestone bedrock and admirably oriented slopes. The vineyard of « La Grande Roche » is quite high up on the hillsides, catching plenty of sunshine which aids the great concentration of flavours in the grapes.

From the Wine Maker – “Of a bright, light golden color, our Montagny 1er Cru “La Grande Roche” 2014 has a complex nose with peach aromas and hints of muscat. Ample and floral in the mouth, it reveals iodine and peppery notes. A lot of freshness on the finish.”

Best with asparagus – rabbit galantine – trout with almonds – sheeps cheese.
