Fresh Cherry, Strawberry and Raspberry flavors are perceptible as the round silky wine passes through the mouth. 2011 Alias California Red Blend

Alias-California-Red-Blend

This great blend is made from 40% Merlot, 27% Zinfandel, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Syrah.

From the winemaker – “In 2011, the California harvest experienced an extremely low yield. The result was a significantly smaller amount of merlot and cabernet sauvignon grapes than we needed. With prices for grapes and wine at a record high and no supply to add to our harvest, we started experimenting with blending them together. The result was amazing. We added some zinfandel and syrah to the blend, and the wine came alive. With great red fruit and a hint of cocoa in the nose, the wine dances on the palate with flavors of strawberry, cherry, plum, sweet raspberry, with a touch of vanilla and toast. In this case, the whole truly added up to more than the sum of the parts. We think you’ll really enjoy this delicious new wine.”

Enjoy with baked, barbecued, broiled or roasted chicken, Chicken Cacciatore, chicken in mushroom or red wine sauce, chicken marinated in herbs and grilled, Coq au vin.

2012 25 Lagunas Estate Grown Malbec

Centuries ago, in the Huanacache region of San Juan, there was a chain of 25 interconnected lagoons that were inhabited by the indigenous Huarpe tribes who traveled in small canoes called “Lagooners.” These lagoons have long since dried up, and in doing so changed the hard land into a renowned viticultural region. Finca Rewen, the winery that produces 25 Lagunas, has an estate vineyard located at 2,000-foot elevation, near the foothills of the Andes Mountains. San Juan is an arid wine region, known for having intense sun, and is ideal for producing warm climate varietals. It is practically uninhabited, with vast expanses of vineyards that take their irrigation from the crystal clean runoff of the nearby Andes.

From the Wine Maker – “The color is an intense red with violet hues. With aromas of Ripe red plum, red currants and strawberry. The palate shows raspberries, prunes and soft tannins with a medium length finish.”

This Melbec is best served with baked, barbecued, broiled or roasted chicken, Chicken Cacciatore, chicken in mushroom or red wine sauce, chicken marinated in herbs and grilled, Coq au vin. Hard cheeses like Asiago, Parmesan and Romano or semi-hard cheeses like Cheddar, Fontina, Gouda or Swiss.

2012 District 7 Pinot Noir

District-7-Pinot-NoirThe cool temperatures of District 7 present ideal growing conditions for Pinot Noir. Each afternoon, the reliable winds from the Monterey Bay come howling down the valley, keeping our estate vineyards at a moderate temperature. This wine was carefully aged in a combination of new and neutral oak, to craft a lush, elegant wine with bright fruit aromas and vivid flavors.

From the Wine Maker – “Flavors of black cherry and strawberry are complemented by a touch of vanilla and toast that linger in a long, silky finish. An elegant, balanced offering that is the ultimate food wine. Try it with grilled salmon, roast duck, pork tenderloin or soft-ripened cheeses.”

A great complement to wild salmon. Also try with roasted duck, grilled lamb, mushrooms, and medium cheeses.

2013 Alamos Red Blend

Made primarily from Malbec (Argentina’s signature red grape), Bonarda (Argentina’s second most widely planted red grape), and Tempranillo, the Alamos Red Blend displays deep, ripe flavors of blackberry and plum with layers of brown spice. The Alamos vineyards of Mendoza, Argentina lie in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. Alamos wines are born of the intense mountain sunlight and pure snowmelt water of the Andes, and embody the richness of this rugged, remote region. This great red blend is made of 40% malbec, 18% tempranillo, 14% bonarda, 14% cabernet sauvignon, 7% petit verdot, 7% syrah.

From the winemaker – “The Alamos Red Blend has spicy flavors of black pepper and blackberry fruit from the Syrah and juicy dark cherry flavors from the Bonarda, which both marry well with the dark plum flavors of Malbec. Tempranillo adds an intriguing edge with its lively strawberry nuances that mingle perfectly with hints of oak. Warm brown spice characters from the oak and rich mouthfeel deliver a bold and very approachable wine.”

White Zinfandel makes a great sparkler—its color is beautiful, and it has bright fruit flavors that are enlivened even more by the bubbles.

From the winemaker – “The nose has lovely floral notes that are reminiscent of the wonderfully refreshing Spumante’s of Italy, with citrus and strawberry fruit nuances. The palate begins with a nice, classic “mousse” mouthfeel, and strawberry, brown spice and citrus flavors interplay with a refreshing acidity that carries everything into a long, delicious finish.”

This great Italian offering is made up of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Sangiovese.

From the Wine Maker – “Tenuta di Castiglioni’s deep, opaque ruby-red, rimmed in purple, intrigues the eye. The nose is marked by appealing, fragrant fruit, with deep draughts of dark-fleshed fruit, such as wild blackberry, black cherry, plum, and strawberry, which shade into toastier notes of cocoa powder, roast espresso bean, tobacco leaf, vanilla, and cinnamon. Impressively full-bodied, the palate shows pleasurably warm, smooth, and well-rounded. Its tangy acidity and noble tannins, already well-integrated into the structure, contribute to its exemplary balance. Subtle fruit enlivens a lengthy, long-lingering finish.”
