2015 Bogle Essential Red

From the Wine Maker – “Bogle winemakers have brought together four distinct varietals to create something memorable and delicious…the 2015 Essential Red. This compelling blend of Old Vine Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah has created a ripe and mouthfilling wine.  Richly textured fruit of dark berries and black plums is nuanced by the flavors of juniper and dried herbs. The juicy, jammy fruit is framed with spicy cedar and hints of pipe tobacco and cocoa as the American oak lingers through the aging of 12 long months.  Luscious from start to finish, this wine is easy to drink, but impossible to forget.  Share it with your friends tonight.”

Best served with a Barbecue Burger, Blue Cheese and Dark Chocolate Macarons.

2011 Edge Cabernet Sauvignon

EDGE is a lush, complex Cabernet Sauvignon produced from grapes which were carefully selected from the great old vineyards in the Silverado Trail area of Napa Valley. The winemaking process follows traditional French winemaking practices with techniques including the use of cold soaking and extended maceration (averaging 23 – 32 day), and frequent pumping over. The 2011 vintage was aged in both French and American Oak for fifteen months, and barrels were racked once every six months.

From the winemaker – “This supple and lush wine immediately opens to flavors of blackberry, clove and hints of vanilla. The medium bodied palate is balanced with flavors of eucalyptus, sweet plums, ripe cherry and hints of tobacco, while the finish is accentuated by nice acidity and subtle oak flavors.”

2011 HandCraft Petite Sirah

HandCraft Artisan Collection wines celebrate the California home and Italian heritage of third generation winery proprietor Cheryl Indelicato. She gives classic grape varieties her own personal touch by adding a playful dash of Italian and heritage varietals as a nod to the vineyard-to-barrel field selections that found their place daily at the Italian table when she was growing up. The result is distinctive, fruit forward wines that are easy to enjoy and share with others.

From the winemaker – “Jammy fruit from beginning to end—starting with aromas of blueberry pie, nutmeg and pepper. In the mouth, flavors expand to include boysenberry, plum, blueberry and spice. This full bodied wine has a bold tannin structure and balanced acidity that lead to a long finish. This big wine is anything but “petite”.

Embolden your sense of taste and pair with mixed grill and slow roasted short ribs.

2011 Bodega Ruca Malen Yauquen Malbec Mendoza

Bodega-Ruca-Malen-Yauquen-Malbec-MendozaThe dream of Bodega Ruca Malen began in 1998 when Jean-Pierre Thibaud and Jacques Louis de Montalembert, in one of his many meetings, confessed the illusion of having his own winery in Mendoza, this paradise at the foot of the Andes. At that time, Jean-Pierre left the chairmanship of Bodegas Chandon Argentina after 10 years, while Jacques Louis had a long tradition in wine from its source in the area of Burgundy. Located in the Uco Valley, 1100 meters above sea level. Soil is sandy  loam, rocky with great drainage and very poor in organic matter. The  vines were planted in 2001 using a vertical trellising system with drip  irrigation, the average yield totaling 10 tons/hectare.

From the Wine Maker – “Nearly black in color, this Malbec has aromas of ripe black cherries,  plums, and violet flowers with subtle notes of vanilla and caramel.  Jammy, packed with fresh red fruit and a pleasant acidity that balances  nicely with the firm tannins. The finish is round and generous with a  touch of sweet oak.”

Enhances grilled red meats, tomato-based pasta dishes, empanadas and rice dishes.

2010 Four Vines Petite Sirah

Four-Vines-Petite-SirahFrom the winemaker – “Pull the cork on this bottle and pour out a dark scarlet elixir throwing off aromas of cherry pie, cedar box, cinnamon, plum and rhubarb. Trailing notes include fragrant plums, sweet cigars and vanilla wafers to pull you into this seductive wine. Lodi vineyards pick out with grapes of sublime depth…glory to those older vines and warm summer days.

Flavors here capture and intrigue the senses with their explosive outbursts. Fresh blackberry and boysenberry flavors ride with pepper spice, briar perfume and cloves on a structure that starts right from the very first sip. A healthy dollop of Zinfandel keeps the party going with a youthful rebel fruit addition to lighten things up and to rock its easy-drinking style.”

Big, bodacious blue fruit with fine tannins, minerality and good acidity make this wine the perfect partner to blue cheese, tri tip, grilled burgers, sausage pizza or perhaps a portabella mushroom risotto.

2009 Chateau de L’Estang Bordeaux

Chateau-de-L'Estang-BordeauxBordeaux wine labels can be confusing. Basically, a Bordeaux wine is any wine produced in the Bordeaux region of France; which is the largest source of fine wine in the world. Chateau de L’Estang is found in Cotes de Castillon (in the southwest of France) and its Bordeaux is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Robert Parker– “Another sleeper of the vintage, the opaque ruby/purple-tinged 2009 l’Estang exhibits lots of sweet black currant and black cherry fruit intermixed with a hint of vanillin. Medium to full-bodied, with surprisingly pure, concentrated, lengthy flavors, it should drink well for 5-6 years.”

Great with rack or leg of lamb, lamb chops, roast pork, pork chops or tenderloin, or Parmigiano, Romano and other hard cheeses as well as cheddar and other savory, firm cheeses.

2010 Coppola Claret Cabernet Sauvignon

Claret is a term that was originally coined by the British to describe Cabernet Sauvignon based wines such as Bordeaux, or those made in a similar style. This cabernet shows aromas of berries, plums, and allspice and flavors of cherries, currants, cassis, and vanilla.

From the winemaker – “The 2010 growing season experienced chilly spring temperatures, and a mild summer. Waiting for that late, warm fall to arrive pushed harvest out weeks later than normal. But having the extra hangtime, allowed the fruit to develop beautifully concentrated flavors, and become a very layered, textural wine with dark, rich fruit impressions, supple tannins and distinct spice nuances that enhance the oak barrel character.”

Best served with beef, pork or spicy dishes.

2007 Uvaggio Barbera

This vintage is comprised of 97% Barbera & 3% Nebbiolo grapes. Fermented with a yeast strain which was isolated in Barolo, immediately  following fermentation and pressing, the wine was filled into barrels for a  malo-lactic conversion cooperage. Aged 15 months in a combination of new and newer oak barrels, of both French and Hungarian origin, with the balance in  neutral oak barrels.

From the Wine Maker – “Rich and structured; bright berry aromas and flavors, plus  stone fruit flavors of cherries and plums; which is followed by a lively,  fruity and clean finish.”

Pairs well with Baked Dijon Salmon and Caesar Salad.

2010 Quattro Mani

Quattro Mani, or “four hands,” showcases celebrity Italian winemakers who express the character and strength of Italy’s rich viticultural heritage, interpreted through their unique personalities. These winemakers were selected for their skill in allowing vineyards to speak through the wine, reflecting the belief that the essence of a region can be best expressed through its traditional wines. Quattro Mani wines are produced from estate-grown fruit using sustainable agriculture, and are bottled at the source. Fermentation for this great red took place in stainless steel tanks for 6-7 days, then aged for five months in large Slavonian oak barrels.

From the Wine Maker – “Aromas of blackberries, plums and sweet spices give way to a ripe and juicy pallet with soft tannins and a long, fresh finish.”

A classic match with prosciutto. Also try this great white with seafood and fish, pork and Asian/spicy dishes.

Milton Park is a label from Barossa family producers Thorn Clarke. Fruit sourced is from a number of different South Australian vineyards including premium Barossa sites.

From the Wine Maker – “Aged for 12 months in American oak barrels. Deep red color. The wine is deep and rich smelling with dark fruits, plums and spice with some good oak. There is very rich fruit on the palate with plums, blackberry and sweet spice from the oak. The palate is vibrant and young with a flavorsome viscous mouthfeel which will develop complexity with time. There are some slightly chewy tannins which will soften with time and there is great length of fruit flavor.”
