2013 Horse Heaven Hills H3 Columbia Crest Sauvignon Blanc

The vineyards in Horse Heaven Hills are the source and inspiration behind the H3 wines. The hills have been home to the Columbia Crest winery for more than two decades, and it is this heritage, combined with innovative winemaking and vineyard knowledge, that allow our winemaker to create wines that capture the unique terroir of the region.

From the winemaker – “Upon pouring this lively Sauvignon Blanc, bold scents of passion fruit, ripe peaches, and citrus erupt from the glass. Rich fruit flavors of citrus and melon team with bright acidity, ending with a lengthy but refreshing finish.”

Enjoy with a crab salad, smoked salmon,  or Oysters Au Gratin. Cheeses such as brie, swiss or gouda.

2010 Martin Codax Albarino

In the local Gallego language of Galicia in Northwest Spain, the name Rías Baixas means “the lower fjords, referring to the narrow fingers of deep water that stretch far inland. The white Albariño grape thrives in this region of rains and mists. Locally, Albariño is called “the wine of the sea” (and is, unsurprisingly, a perfect match for seafood).

From the Wine Maker – “Produced under the stringent rules of the Rías Baixas Denominación de Origen (DO), Martín Códax Albariño is thoroughly food friendly, and designed to be consumed young. This is an aromatic wine, elegant, dry and crisp on the finish. The key aromatic and flavor notes are pear, passion fruit and apple. Acidity is bright and integrates well with aromatic elements into a balanced whole. Albariño stands on its own as an aperitif but reaches its glory stage when matched with food. This is not only because of the firm acidity, but also because of the wine’s mouth-engaging fullness. Seafood, poultry, light salads, and lightly sauced pastas are only a few of the many possibilities.”

Best paired with seafood like, grilled or sautéed abalone, fried calamari, clams steamed, boiled or in a cream or white wine sauce, crab, lobster grilled, steamed or boiled, lobster Newberg or Thermidor, mussels steamed or in white wine sauce, oysters poached or grilled on the half-shell, Oysters Rockefeller, shrimp fried or grilled, scallops fried or grilled and deep-fried soft-shell crab.

2009 Domaine Guillaman Cotes de Gascogne

Domaine-Guillaman-Cotes-de-GascogneDomaine Guillaman is in southwestern France in Armagnac country, home of that fiery spirit made from grapes. Dominique Ferret is the sixth generation to manage the family’s estate and the first to focus on table wines instead of growing grapes for Armagnac. The change required major renovations in the winery and vineyards, but , the effort was clearly worth it.

From the Wine Maker – “The colour is pale yellow with beautiful glints of green, and brilliantly clear. The bouquet is exuberant and lets you dream: plenty of fruit (grapefruit, lychee, passion-fruit) and a hint of acacia. The taste is well-rounded, full and very fresh, and there is a good follow-through from the bouquet: fruit, more fruit, ever more fruit.”

This wine is good as an apéritif, or served with cold meats, fish and shellfish.
