2010 Plowbuster Pinot Noir

Plowbuster is the second label of Pinot Noir, named for the soil these vines call home.  The earth is littered with bits of steel from several generations of plows,  Vine roots run so deep that irrigation is moot.  There are rocky red soils only a winemaker or a geologist could love.  An exceptional quality Pinot Noir, dark fruited, deep and earthy, and from a fantastic vintage for the Willamette Valley.

From the Wine Maker – “ Pure garnet in color with vibrant berry and brown spice on the nose. Dark cherry and cinnamon on the entry with a bright mid-palate that has classic pinot fine tannins and silky texture. Finishes nicely with a lilt of strawberry making it a wonderful match with game hens basted in quince sauce.”

2006 Left Coast Cellars Cali’s Cuveé Pinot Noir

From the Wine Maker – “The biggest, boldest Cali’s to date, this wine offers up a hedonistic nose of cherry, brambly blackberry, pine, orange peel and cinnamon to awake your senses. A truly unforgettable palate suggests raspberries and blackberries with an allusion to wild mint and thyme. Finishing with anise and molasses, this wine speaks to the incredible bounty of the remarkable 2006 vintage.”

A wonderful glass to sip own its own, this wine has just the right amount of acidity and structure to compliment robust lamb, beef and game dishes.

Rating:

This wine was given a 91 point rating by Wine Enthusiast. — “A home run. Given extra bottle age, this is drinking optimally at the moment, with a spicy, brambly nose mixing blackberries, mint and chocolate-covered cherries. There’s a scent of fresh-cut wood also, and a mouthful of fruit and barrel flavors that are both nicely integrated and complementary. The long finish lingers into a resonant note of black tea.” – Paul Gregutt

2007 Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Noir

2007 Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot NoirThis bottle is a pure Pinot Noir with soft juicy balanced oak and soft sweet tannins.

From the winemaker – “The 2007 Pinot Noir has sweet, delicate aromas of raspberries and red cherries with hints of cocoa and toast. The sweet and tart flavors of ripe, red cherries and raspberries are accented by hints of vanilla and white pepper spice. An elegant Pinot Noir with delicate round tannins and nicely balanced acidity that lingers into the silky finish.”

A great complement to wild salmon. Also try with roasted duck, grilled lamb, mushrooms, and medium cheeses.
