2012 Gascon Malbec

Don Miguel Gascón Malbec hails from Mendoza, a mountainous province at the foot of the Andes Mountains, along the western edge of Argentina. Regarded as the most important wine-producing province in Argentina, Mendoza accounts for more than 80% of Argentine winemaking.

By selecting grapes from vineyards at varying elevations throughout Mendoza’s high valleys, winemakers achieve superb balance in the finished wine. The high altitude places the vineyards under intense sunlight, which translates into fruit with extraordinary flavor and aromatic expressions.

From the winemaker – “Our 2012 Malbec opens with intense aromas of blackberry, plum and a hint of mocha. Dark fruit flavors intertwine with notes of spice, licorice and chocolate to create a magnificent, full-bodied Malbec. Round tannins and a plush mouthfeel lead the way to a long, velvety finish.”

Gascón Malbec pairs well with grilled red meats, wild game, pasta dishes and chocolate molten dessert.

2010 Primal Roots Red Blend

The true essence of Primal Roots begins with the raw qualities of Merlot, Syrah, and Zinfandel that are artfully blended to create a smooth, full-bodied, sensual wine. 43% Merlot, 37% Syrah, and 20% Zinfandel make up the great blend while oak aging helps build the structure introducing the underlying vanilla, cream, and mocha characteristics.

From the Wine Maker – “The 2010 Red Blend has aromas of mocha, vanilla, and spice that give way to a silky texture along with rich flavors of raspberries and chocolate that are truly uninhibited.”

Pairs well with grilled marinated chicken, chicken with medium sauces like red wine or teriyaki, chicken with hearty sauces like spicy Italian, mushroom, cornish hen, duck with light to hearty sauces, turkey with light to hearty sauces.

2010 Bodega Goulart Clasico Malbec

This Malbec is deep red in color, has a lot of intensity, touch of tobacco and mocha, caramelized milk, cherries and wild cherries, good intensity in the mouth, sweet tannins with a very long friendly finish.

From the Wine Maker – “The “clasico” is an excellent example of the style and elegance which old Melbec vines yield in the appellation of Lujan de Cuyo. A minimalist approach to winemaking leads to a modern style which combines the  fresh crisp flavors of blackberry and wild raspberry with good structure and soft tannins.”

Enjoy this Melbec with chicken wings, barbecue, pate’s like chicken, duck or veal liver. Try hard cheeses like Asiago, Parmesan and Romano or semi-hard cheeses like Cheddar, Fontina, Gouda or Swiss.
