2015 Stags Leap Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc

Stags-Leap-Napa-Valley-Sauvignon-BlancStag’s Leap Wine Cellars began making Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc in the early 1980s. We combine estate-grown grapes with those purchased from a handful of skilled, fastidious farmers to create a wine that is complex, yet crisp and refreshing, and versatile with a wide range of dishes and occasions – from patio aperitif to elegant dinner party.

From the winemaker – “Inviting aromas of orange blossom, tangerine and a hint of grass. On the palate, the wine has bright citrus flavors with lingering fruit on the finish. The wine is refreshing with a nice weight and texture and the crisp acidity makes it a perfect food wine.”

2011 Whitehall Lane Sauvignon Blanc

Whitehall-Lane-Sauvignon-Blanc

This 2011 wine follows Whitehall Lane’s style of a fruit forward and crisp Sauvignon Blanc. 70% of the fruit was fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and 30% in new French oak barrels. The barrel-fermented portion was aged for only seven weeks. Utilizing both tank and barrels for fermenting accentuates the crisp fruit flavors and layers of complexity. 12% Semillon was blended in for enhanced sweet, round flavors and mouth-feel.

From the winemaker – “This is a refreshing wine with aromas of grapefruit, lemon grass and just a hint of toasty oak. It is light to medium bodied and delivers rich and mouth-watering citrus flavors, excellent balance and a clean finish.”

Great with lobster, crab, shrimp, spicy or cajun flavored shrimp, scallops with light to medium sauces. Cobb, chef, pasta, shrimp, lemon-herb and Caesar salads.

2012 Groth Sauvignon Blanc

grtoh-sauvignon-blancAll of the Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon was whole cluster pressed. Whole cluster pressing gives us juice of incredibly high fruitiness and softness. After pressing and settling, 70% of the juice was moved to small oak barrels where it was put through a long, cool fermentation. Within two weeks, the wine fermented to dryness and the wines were allowed to age “sur lie” for a total of five months in the small oak barrels. These barrels are experienced (4-8 years old) and completely inert. This pressing, fermentation and aging program adds rich complexity to the aromas and flavors.

From the winemaker – “Our 2012 Sauvignon Blanc was produced from grapes grown in various microclimates of the Napa Valley. The warmer Napa Valley microclimates give us grapes that result in wines with a lush, full melon/citrus character in the aroma and in the flavor. The cooler Napa Valley fruit provides a solid, crisp backbone that gives the wine an exciting liveliness that balances the rich creaminess from “sur lie” aging.

It has a light straw color and a nose of grapefruit rind, juniper berry, star fruit, green apple, pear and elderberry flower. It has a juicy, fruit-sweet attack with notes of honey and citrus on the palate. The wine has a long, lingering, fresh fruit finish.”

2013 Coppola Diamond Chardonnay

Coppola-Diamond-ChardonnayThe Chardonnay grapes come from two distinct vineyards in Monterey: one near the Gabilan mountain range where the sandy loam soils result in a higher degree of flavor concentration; the other in the Arroyo Seco, where the temperatures remain relatively  cool and the fruit maintains a crisp acidity. When they blend the wine from these two vineyards together they achieve lovely balance and greater complexity.

From the Wine Maker – “Our Chardonnay reflects the distinctive personality of Monterey vineyards, which give rise to juicy apple, guava and melon flavors.  Whole-cluster pressing and a combination of barrel and stainless steel fermentation ensures that the creamy texture and caramelized sugar finish is balanced by a crisp acidity. Bright and balanced, highlighted by juicy apple, cantaloupe and pear flavors enveloped in a crème brûlée finish.”

This wine pairs nicely with rich seafood dishes, roast chicken or pasta with cream sauce.

2010 Villa Rosa Gavi di Gavi

Made from Cortese grapes, this Gavi di Gavi is one of Italy’s most delicate, dry whites. It is often compared to a French Chablis since it has a graceful and flinty taste. Villa Rosa Gavi di Gavi is cold-fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks. Although it will retain its fruity fragrance and fresh taste for a few years, it is best when consumed young.

From the Wine Maker – “This Gavi is fragrant and fruity, with nuances of apples and melons in the aroma. It has a dry, elegant taste with a refreshingly clean finish. Enjoy it chilled and young.”

Gavi di Gavi is suitable with all fish dishes, especially elegant preparations. This wine is ideal with pasta and seafood sauces, especially Linguine with clam sauce. Try it with appetizers or as an aperitif. Gavi is also great with fried fish, especially fried calamari.

Seven Daughters Winemaker’s White Blend

We believe there is an art to blending the distinctively different together. At Seven Daughters, we view the winemaking process as a rare opportunity to combine the skills of scientists with the souls of artists. The goal of wine blending is to produce a perfect, unified balance, incorporating different flavor profiles into a single wine greater than the sum of its parts.  And we’re not afraid to mix it up seven ways. This non-vintage white blend is made up of French Colombard, Chardonnay, Riesling, Symphony, Orange Muscat, Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc.

From the Wine Maker – “The deep aromas in this wine feature notes of orange blossom, tangerine and melon with a flirtatious hint of apricot and lychee. This sultry, balanced wine opens with the fresh flavors of lychee and mandarin oranges. The vibrant citrus influence continues on the palate and the presence of Gewürztraminer complements the wine with a closing note of spice.”

This wine pairs deliciously with fruit salad, sushi, white fish (snapper, grouper, scallops), as well as Cantonese, Thai, and Latin cuisines.
