2015 Seaglass Sauvignon Blanc

SEAGLASS Wine Company gets its name from the shards of glass that are polished—over decades—into beautiful, one-of-a-kind gems by the natural ebb and flow of wind, sea and fog. Our wines encapsulate the ocean air, the sandy coastline and the fresh acidity of cool-climate fruit along the Central Coast. Crafted from wind-swept vines that give us nuanced flavors in the cellar and complex notes in the glass, our wines are an unmistakable expression of California’s coastal vineyards.

From the Wine Maker – “This Santa Barbara County Sauvignon Blanc has exhilarating aromas of lemon, lime, grapefruit and fresh cut grass. A clean, crisp palate of gooseberry, tangerine and a touch of minerality paves the way for mouthwatering acidity and a lightly tart finish. We crafted this wine in the classic style of coastal Sauvignon Blanc, retaining the naturally fresh fruit flavor of the grapes by carefully avoiding any oxygen exposure during winemaking. A cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks allowed the wine’s delicate varietal flavors and crisp acidity to flourish. We chose not to employ malolactic fermentation before bottling the wine, which preserved its hallmark freshness.”

2012 Bridlewood Estate Monterey County Chardonnay

bridlewood-estate-monterey-county-chardonnayProximity to the Pacific Ocean gives Monterey County the cool, foggy climate that is ideal for growing Chardonnay grapes. Typically, bud break begins several weeks earlier and harvest ends several weeks later in Monterey County than in other Central Coast growing regions. This extra month of time on the vine allows the grapes to develop a crisp, bright acidity and lush tropical flavors. Monterey County houses the significant Monterey AVA, which includes nine sub-regions, united by the cooling influence of Monterey Bay.

From the Wine Maker – “Our Bridlewood Monterey County Chardonnay displays juicy tropical and floral notes mixed with hints of vanilla and spice. Flavors of mandarin orange, lime and pippin apple give way to clover honey and toasted sugar notes. With age, tropical caramel aromas will develop beautifully in this wine.”

Enjoy with Halibut, Mahi Mahi, Monkfish, Red Snapper, Rock cod, Salmon, Sea Bass, Shark, Sole, Swordfish, Tilapia, Trout and Tuna saute’ed, grilled, roasted or baked with or without sauces.

2009 Silverado Miller Ranch Sauvignon Blanc

92 percent Sauvignon Blanc, and 8 percent Semillon grapes were used to make this great Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes were harvested at an average sugar of 22.7° Brix. The juice was inoculated with three distinct yeast strains that help release aromas specific to Sauvignon Blanc. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks set at 50 – 55 degrees Fahrenheit. To highlight the wine’s intense aromatics the wine did not undergo any malolatic fermentation. The Semillon was blended to enhance the mouthfeel and balance acidity.

From the winemaker – “Intense aromas of lime, grapefruit and orange spiked with ginger and quinine. On the palate, juicy flavors with bright fresh picked tangerine flavors that linger on the finish.

2013 Hess Select Chardonnay

Hess-Select-ChardonnayThis vintage will be remembered for its long, cool growing season and the absence of excessive heat events, which allowed for ripe flavors to develop on the vine without excessive sugar accumulation. The resulting wines show an elegant balance of fruit and acidity with lower alcohol.

From the winemaker – “Aromas of pear and citrus, highlighting lemon and lime, are followed on the  palate with pineapple and tropical fruit flavors. Medium bodied and refreshing,  a subtle oak toast balances acidity, resulting in a wine crafted in a modern, fruit-forward  style, wonderful to enjoy on its own as an apéritif, or with a wide array of  dishes across many cuisines.”

This wine’s natural acidity complements tangy, spicy foods and shows well with the richness of creamier dishes. Enjoy with Asian chicken salad, grilled tuna with melted anchovy butter and lemon, or a creamy pasta dish with Portobello mushrooms.

2011 BackHouse Pinot Grigio

back-house-pinot-grigioIn 1994, Roy and Rachael Cecchetti purchased a two and a half-acre parcel in the Sonoma Valley, one mile east of the Plaza. On that parcel, situated next to the grand willow tree and the natural spring fed pond, was an old backhouse. Through some research of the property, it was discovered that the old backhouse was once home to vintners, writers, artists and those who craved the solitude and enjoyment of nature. Backhouse wines were created to bring these memories back to life for a new generation.

From the Wine Maker – “pale straw in color with complex flavors of fruits and herbs. Round and full, this wine can be enjoyed with a variety of foods such as salads and poultry dishes.”
