2011 Alamos Moscato

Alamos-MoscatoMoscato d’Asti is characterized by its freshness, elegant floral aromas and delicate flavors of peaches and apricots. It is generally fuller and more complex, though not as crisp, and is considered to display more finesse than its sibling Asti Spumante.

From the Wine Maker – “Alamos Moscato is sourced from the foothills of the Andes Mountains in Argentina, where some of the world’s highest vineyards are located. Alamos Mosacato exhibits flavors of fresh apricot and honey, with layers of citrus aromas.”

This wine is light on the palate and pairs excellent with grilled chicken, salads, and slightly spicy foods.

2009 Skyleaf Riesling Waipara Valley

Riesling that tastes like Riesling.  This one is cool, crisp, dry– it’s a wonderful wine to have on hand for outside partying in the summer months.

From the Wine Maker – “The Skyleaf Riesling has a pale yellow/green color and apple, melon, honey and lifted wine flowers on the nose. The palate is crisp Waipara acidity softened with enough fruit sweetness to make the wine soft and inviting while still having structure.”

Best paired with seafood like, grilled or sautéed abalone, fried calamari, clams steamed, boiled or in a cream or white wine sauce, crab, lobster grilled, steamed or boiled, lobster Newberg or Thermidor, mussels steamed or in white wine sauce, oysters poached or grilled on the half-shell, Oysters Rockefeller, shrimp fried or grilled, scallops fried or grilled and deep-fried soft-shell crab.
