2016 Rodney Strong Charlotte’s Home Sauvignon Blanc

Rod Strong established our heritage Sauvignon Blanc vineyard in 1971, naming it Charlotte’s Home in honor of his wife. Today, that vineyard remains the core of our Charlotte’s Home Sauvignon Blanc, along with other select estate vineyards in the Alexander Valley as well as the Russian River Valley and Dry Creek Valley.

From the Wine Maker – “Fresh, bright and crisp, this Sauvignon Blanc is a wine of balance, richness and aromatic complexity. The Alexander Valley fruit provides the backbone to this Sauvignon Blanc, while the ocean cooled Russian River Valley fruit offers zesty citrus notes of grapefruit, lime blossoms and lemongrass. The warmer Dry Creek Valley fruit gives the wine a wonderful honeydew melon and tropical character.”

Together, the three valleys make a classic Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc that pairs wonderfully with soft cheeses such as goat cheese, vegetable quiche and a variety of seafood dishes.

2015 Seaglass Sauvignon Blanc

SEAGLASS Wine Company gets its name from the shards of glass that are polished—over decades—into beautiful, one-of-a-kind gems by the natural ebb and flow of wind, sea and fog. Our wines encapsulate the ocean air, the sandy coastline and the fresh acidity of cool-climate fruit along the Central Coast. Crafted from wind-swept vines that give us nuanced flavors in the cellar and complex notes in the glass, our wines are an unmistakable expression of California’s coastal vineyards.

From the Wine Maker – “This Santa Barbara County Sauvignon Blanc has exhilarating aromas of lemon, lime, grapefruit and fresh cut grass. A clean, crisp palate of gooseberry, tangerine and a touch of minerality paves the way for mouthwatering acidity and a lightly tart finish. We crafted this wine in the classic style of coastal Sauvignon Blanc, retaining the naturally fresh fruit flavor of the grapes by carefully avoiding any oxygen exposure during winemaking. A cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks allowed the wine’s delicate varietal flavors and crisp acidity to flourish. We chose not to employ malolactic fermentation before bottling the wine, which preserved its hallmark freshness.”

2013 Cakebread Cellars Sauvignon Blanc

Cakebread-Cellars-Sauvignon-BlancWe source Sauvignon Blanc grapes from throughout Napa Valley,  with over a third of the total coming from our estate vineyards in Rutherford, Calistoga,  Carneros and southeastern Napa.  The wonderful  fruit from these sites enables us to produce a full-bodied, crisp and complex  Sauvignon Blanc boasting distinctive varietal character and a delectably zestiness.   In 2012, a superb white wine vintage in  Napa Valley, we blended 87% Sauvignon Blanc with 9% Semillon (to enrich the wine’s  mid-palate and soften its acidity) and 4% Sauvignon Musqué, an aromatic clone of Sauvignon Blanc that adds a  bright, floral note to the bouquet.

From the Wine Maker – “Because of the stability of our grape sources and constancy of our winemaking regimen, our sauvignon blanc displays a consistent style from year to year. The 2013 vintage boasts characteristically fresh, pure and complex white grapefruit, guava, green apple, honeydew melon and mineral aromas. It’s concentrated; guava, gooseberry and melon flavors persist into a long, lively finish boasting bright citrus, light spice and mouth-watering mineral tones. Enjoy this beauty over the next 3-5 years with your favorite salad, seafood, poultry and veggie dishes.”

A perfect oyster wine, this Sauvignon Blanc is also delicious with many vegetarian dishes. Cheeses such as chevre and other fresh cheeses, Brie and other semi-soft cheeses, Swiss, Gouda and other mild, firm cheeses.

2009 Silverado Miller Ranch Sauvignon Blanc

92 percent Sauvignon Blanc, and 8 percent Semillon grapes were used to make this great Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes were harvested at an average sugar of 22.7° Brix. The juice was inoculated with three distinct yeast strains that help release aromas specific to Sauvignon Blanc. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks set at 50 – 55 degrees Fahrenheit. To highlight the wine’s intense aromatics the wine did not undergo any malolatic fermentation. The Semillon was blended to enhance the mouthfeel and balance acidity.

From the winemaker – “Intense aromas of lime, grapefruit and orange spiked with ginger and quinine. On the palate, juicy flavors with bright fresh picked tangerine flavors that linger on the finish.

Enjoy with a crab salad, smoked salmon,  or Oysters Au Gratin. Cheeses such as brie, swiss or gouda.

2011 Altadonna Pinot Grigio

The area referred to as the “Tre Venezie” encompasses a vast territory in northern Italy, including part of the Trentino region, as well as the entirety of the Veneto and the Friuli-Venezia Giulia regions. Protected to the north by the Alps, the area is well-ventilated by the warm, gentle breezes off the Adriatic Sea. Pinot Grigio thrives in this unique terrain. Italian white-wine making was revolutionized in this region through cold fermentation, the selection of yeasts, and densely planted vineyards.

From the Wine Maker – “Abundant aromas of white peaches and ripe grapefruit make up the bouquet. This is a vibrant wine with a crisp, refreshing acidity and mineral notes that balance the ample body and texture.”

This Pinot Grigio makes an excellent aperitif wine. It pairs well with vegetable hors d’oeuvres and other lighter fare, including salads.
