2015 Edna Valley Sauvignon Blanc

Edna Valley Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is made from sauvignon blanc grapes grown in a variety of vineyard blocks in the paragon vineyard. The grapes are left on the vine as long as possible to develop citrus and tropical fruit characters. The handpicked clusters were pressed directly with minimal pressure. A small portion of the fruit was de-stemmed and allowed to sit on the skins for 4 hours before gently draining off the juice. To increase viscosity and complexity, 15% of the wine was barrel fermented in older french barrels and aged on the lees for four months before blending. A variety of specialty yeasts were used to bring grapefruit, orange, and tropical flavors to this wine’s forefront.

From the winemaker – “The fruit for our Central Coast Sauvignon Blanc wine is sourced from a combination of cooler and warmer sites for optimal complexity. This blend gives our white wine concentrated citrus notes of orange zest, grapefruit and lime, complemented by tropical fruit flavors and notes of fresh cut grass. Vibrant acidity keeps the wine crisp and adds length and minerality to the finish.”

Enjoy with a crab salad, smoked salmon,  or Oysters Au Gratin. Cheeses such as brie, swiss or gouda.

2015 Alamos Torrontés

Alamos-Torrontes

Argentina’s only native grape, Torrontés thrives in our soaring vineyards at 5,000 to 10,000 feet in elevation, developing incredible floral aromas, bright fruit notes and refreshing acidity. Our Torrontés is grown in Salta in the far northwestern region of Argentina. In the shadow of the Andes at higher altitudes than Mendoza and much closer to the equator, Salta is one of the most extreme winegrowing regions in the world. Blazing hot summer days can reach daytime temperatures of 100 degrees of intense sunlight, plunging to as low as 55 degrees at night as the heat evaporates into the thin air. It’s a dramatic shift that allows grapes to mature and accumulate rich, bold flavors during the day and preserve beautiful acidity and structure at night.

From the winemaker – “A delightful expression of the region, the Alamos Torrontes is crisp and extraordinarily fragrant (another benefit of our high-elevation vineyards), filled with striking floral aromas of orange and jasmine blossom. On the palate, vibrant notes of peach, ripe pineapple and fresh herbs lead to a refreshing zing of acidity at the finish.”

This wine pairs nicely with a wide variety of Thai foods because of its ability to temper the Thai dishes. Try pad kee mao (drunken noodles), masaman curry and beef noodle soup with this one.
