2012 Bridlewood Estate Monterey County Pinot Noir

bridlewood-estate-winery-monterey-county-pinot-noirAt Bridlewood, we like to take our time. We hand select our grapes from California’s vast Central Coast AVA, and we pour our passion into winemaking. Our picturesque 105-acre estate rests on a high bench of ancient seabed, facing the Pacific breezes that meander through the Santa Ynez Mountains to the south and the Purisima Hills and San Raphael Mountains to the north. Days are warm, nights are cool and the abundant sunshine is tempered by wind and fog. This is Central Coast Wine Country at its best. The grapes for this wine were harvested early in the morning, keeping them as cool as possible. This helped the grapes retain their natural acidity and expressive fruit flavors while allowing for better control of the fermentation temperature.

From the winemaker – “Our Bridlewood Monterey County Pinot Noir has layers of cherry, raspberry and plum flavors that are nicely complemented by hints of caramel, vanilla and toffee. The soft, silky mouthfeel of this Pinot Noir goes a long way.”

This wine is best served with Veal chops, veal Marsala, Piccata, Osso bucco.  Veal with light herb, vegetable, cheese, cream, mushroom or wine sauces. Mild, firm cheeses like Swiss or Gouda.  Hard cheeses like Parmigiano or Romano and savory cheese like Cheddar.

The oak aging gently frames the wine, contributes a slight caramel note, and complements the fruit flavors from these fine coastal vineyards.”

2008 Mark West Pinot Noir

2008 Mark West Pinot NoirAndre’ — “I love the MW Pinot! First of all for the price it is tough to beat. The balance of Fruit/spice/acid is dead on.

This is a great food wine but I could also see myself drinking it on it’s own, while I’m sitting around the fire with friends.

We opened a bottle at home this past weekend. I made Cauliflower with Bacon, some Local Potatoes and Pan Roasted Black Bass.

For the Bass I cleaned 2 filets, patted them dry and seasoned them with salt and pepper. Drop the fish into a hot pan with just a touch of oil, cook on med-high for 3-4 min, flip and cook 2-3 min more. Remove from the pan and hold in a warm place. Meanwhile drop a knob of butter in the pan with a splash of wine and some fresh herbs, pour the sauce over the fish (don’t forget to check the seasoning)”

From the winemaker:

“Enticing aromas of strawberry and raspberry with barrel notes of caramel, vanilla and baking spices. Oak aging rounds out the palate and gives the wine its body. The wine drinks of deep, concentrated raspberry, cherry pie with a touch of cola berry. The wine shows juicy fruit texture and subtle oak.”
