2013 Adele Chardonnay

The Adele Chardonnay comes from a 10-acre block in the well-known Vine Hill Road region of Russian River, source of some of the best Chardonnay produced in California. It is fermented two-thirds in new and used French Oak barrels, while the rest is fermented in stainless steel to maintain the bright freshness of the fruit. During its 8 month elevage, the wine sees some batonnage, adding richness and texture. The result is a full-bodied but not overblown crowd-pleaser.

From the winemaker – “2013 Adele Chardonnay Russian River a bright yellow color of medium intensity along with greenish reflections. On the nose the wine offers a medium intensity of vanilla, ripe pineapple and toffee. There might be a hint of orange rind. On the palate he wine is dry, full-bodied with mouth-watering acidity. There is a medium(-) intensity of flavors similar to the nose. The vanilla and pineapple are dominant with a hint of tangerine. The finish is clean with a medium length of lingering pineapple. There is a pleasant slight sweet attack on medium intensity at the end.”

This wine is best served with white meats, scallops, Hard cheeses, fish, chicken, BBQ.

2012 Allegrini Palazzo Della Torre

This is one of the wines that has made Allegrini famous throughout the world. The vineyard surrounds Villa della Torre, a splendid masterpiece of Renaissance architecture now owned by the family, and produces a full-bodied red wine that has an ageing potential of at least ten years. The blend is the historic combination of Corvina and Rondinella with the addition of a small quantity of Sangiovese. A small percentage of the harvested grapes are left to dry out until December and then added to the previously vinified fresh grapes. The result is a velvety, well-balanced red wine that proffers mature, pulpy fruit.

From the Wine Maker – “Aromas of dried earth, dried raspberry and blueberry. Full body, chewy tannins and a fresh, bright finish. Lively and delicious.”

Easily pairs with various Italian dishes, above all risottos, especially those flavored with saffron, porcini mushrooms and pork; classic dishes such as pasta with amatriciana and carbonara sauces, baked lasagna, gnocchi with gorgonzola cheese and walnuts; grilled meats and roasts. This wine also excels when matched with Parma ham and fine-cured zibello pork loin, as well as medium-matured cheeses, especially parmigiano reggiano, pecorino and Monte Veronese.

The mouth is fresh with floral aspects evident in the mid-palate. Additional nuance and silkiness develops as it sits in the glass.”

2010 Y3 Chardonnay

Y3-ChardonnayThe Chardonnay from this 2010 vintage has vibrant acidity and fruit flavors. The stylistic intent (scarcely 10% malolactic fermentation) reflects the clean acidity and finesse that you would expect from an excellent food friendly wine.

From the Wine Maker – “Y3. Or as you may ask, why not? After all, the beauty of this wine runs far deeper than the label. Celebrating three generations of land-tilling, wine-loving Jacksons, siblings Kimberly and Trent are proud to present Y3, a wine as special as the memories of their grandparents at Yarrayne Ranch.

In our humble wine-obsessed opinion, many Napa Valley Chardonnays tend to be over-styled with excessive butter and oak. But as the Jackson siblings know (through lots of “testing”), an outstanding Chardonnay owes its success to outstanding fruit, not a heavy style. We think you’ll agree.

Aromas of rich, bright fruit dominate the nose with layers of ripe green apple, pineapple, peaches and brown sugar. The palate reveals a soft and elegant structure with beautiful lines and precise finesse.”

This Chardonnay is an excellent accompaniment for fish, poultry and lightly sauced entrees. Cream style cheeses such as; cottage or goat cheese, semi-hard cheeses like Fontina, Jarlsberg, Swiss or Gouda.
