2010 Gallo Signature Series Pinot Noir

Gallo-Signature-Series-Pinot-NoirThe Gallo Signature Series honors the journey the Gallo family started in 1933, and it celebrates how far the family has come. With some of California’s best grapes at her fingertips, third-generation winemaker Gina Gallo, has created three distinct wines that could only be crafted from the Gallo family’s unique combination of vineyards. For Gina, the Gallo Signature Series expresses her family’s passion for great vineyards and great wine, and it reflects the best the Gallo Winery has to offer. The Gallo Signature Series marks a return to hands-on, artisanal winemaking for Gina, and it brings to life the enduring legacy of Ernest and Julio Gallo.

This great Zin is dry and spicy, with blackberry, currant, herb and coffee flavors that finish with a hint of raisins.

From the Wine Maker – “The aromas are classic of an old vine Zinfandel: spicy and jammy. Notes of black pepper, raspberry, and boysenberry lead to hints of cinnamon, sandalwood, and clove to create the bouquet. On the palate, the wine carries over the spicy notes, as well as black cherry and cassis flavors. The oak-aging gives it a supple and velvety texture. Fruit-forward with balanced acidity and alcohol.”

Pairs well with an array of dishes, from vegetable lasagna to hearty beef stews. Also excellent with roasted and grilled meats.

2011 Aquinas Cabernet Sauvignon

Aquinas-Cabernet-SauvignonDon Sebastiani, Sr. learned about St. Thomas Aquinas in his studies and travels, and was inspired by the way that he brought together two dissident ideas, using scientific method to try to prove the existence of a “higher being.” In much the same way, Don knew it was possible to bring together the idea of a classic, excellent Napa Valley wine with affordability and accessibility that most Napa wines lack. Wine should be a luxury that we can all afford, and the famed Napa Valley is no exception.

From the winemaker – “This wine opens with a fragrant, fruit forward bouquet of classic black cherry and boysenberry aromas with faint hints of dill from its time spent on American oak. This elegant wine leads with blackberry and black currant flavors complemented by notes of dark chocolate, cassis and warm baking spice. This beautifully balanced wine is medium to full body with round supple tannins. It’s a deliciously smooth Cabernet Sauvignon in the classic Napa Valley tradition.”

HandCraft Artisan Collection wines celebrate the California home and Italian heritage of third generation winery proprietor Cheryl Indelicato. The result is distinctive, fruit forward wines that are easy to enjoy and share with others.

From the winemaker – “Jammy fruit from beginning to end—starting with aromas of blueberry pie, nutmeg and pepper. In the mouth, flavors expand to include boysenberry, plum, blueberry and spice. This full bodied wine has a bold tannin structure and balanced acidity that lead to a long finish. This big wine is anything but “petite”.

2010 Four Vines Petite Sirah

Four-Vines-Petite-SirahFrom the winemaker – “Pull the cork on this bottle and pour out a dark scarlet elixir throwing off aromas of cherry pie, cedar box, cinnamon, plum and rhubarb. Trailing notes include fragrant plums, sweet cigars and vanilla wafers to pull you into this seductive wine. Lodi vineyards pick out with grapes of sublime depth…glory to those older vines and warm summer days.

Flavors here capture and intrigue the senses with their explosive outbursts. Fresh blackberry and boysenberry flavors ride with pepper spice, briar perfume and cloves on a structure that starts right from the very first sip. A healthy dollop of Zinfandel keeps the party going with a youthful rebel fruit addition to lighten things up and to rock its easy-drinking style.”
