2009 Black Stallion Nappa Valley Chardonnay

Black-Stallion-Nappa-Valley-ChardonnayThis 2009 Chardonnay was 100% barrel fermented in French Oak. It was stirred weekly and the wine went through partial malolactic fermentation in the barrel. This vintage was sourced from two different areas in the Nappa Valley.

From the Wine Maker – “A wonderfully complex and layered Chardonnay with subtle aromas of citrus blossom, white chocolate, toasted almond and apricot. This wine has a silky smooth texture and full-bodied flavor, balanced with crisp acidity and refined tannins. Notes of pear and white peach add to the rounded fruit flavors which to follow through to a long finish.”

This wine has enough body to pair with Asian ginger pork chops, and would also pair nicely with grilled teriyaki chicken, halibut with a creamy garlic sauce or seafood linguini with a white wine sauce.

2010 Umberto Cesari Colle Del Re Dry White Wine

With the 1987 vintage, Albana di Romagna became Italy’s first white D.O.C.G. wine. Very few wines met the new D.O.C.G. standards, but Umberto Cesari is ranked at the very top. Albana is named for the straw-yellow colored hair of Princess Albana, daughter of a Roman Emperor. Albana di Romagna can be made sweet or dry, still or Frizzante. The “Colle del Re” of Umberto Cesari is made in a dry, elegant style that is best enjoyed in its youth. This wine is from a single vineyard plot and is estate grown and bottled.

From the winemaker – “This wine is straw-colored with a delicate scent and an elegant, dry, fruity taste. The finish is smooth with a touch of almonds. Albana di Romagna is a very distinctive wine.

This wine goes well with seafood or poultry, as well as stuffed pastas in cream or butter sauces, such as Tortellini, Agnolotti or Cappelletti.

This wine was previously given a 79 point rating by Wine Spectator.

2009 Santa Marina Pinot Grigio

An aromatic wine with delicate notes of pear and a hint of almond blossoms. It’s refreshingly dry and crisp on the palate with medium-bodied fruit and citrus flavors on the finish.

From the Wine Maker – “A light, straw gold.  Delicate bouquet, elegant.  Delicious and refreshing with distinctive fruit upfront, beautifully balanced with a crisp, exceptionally clean finish.”

This wine is best served with pasta in light wine sauce like lemon-flavored olive oil or spicy Asian noodles. It also pairs well with raw, crisp or steamed vegetable dishes.
