2014 DaVinci Pinot Grigio

DaVinci-Pinot-GrigioNestled near the Tuscan hillside town of Vinci – historic home of Leonardo da Vinci – Cantine Leonardo Da Vinci brings together 200 passionate local winegrowers, who contribute their finest grapes to an extraordinary collection of authentic Italian wines. Rooted in centuries of winemaking tradition, Da Vinci wines embody the rolling hills of Tuscany. Cantine Leonardo Da Vinci works closely with growers in the delle Venezie IGT to create Pinot Grigio from Northeast Italy.

From the Wine Maker – “Our Da Vinci delle Venezie Pinot Grigio has a brilliant straw color and delicate floral aromas. The palate is full and ripe, characterized by notes of apple, tropical and citrus fruits, and a hint of minerality. Lively acidity and a fresh, crisp profile make this a wonderfully versatile white wine.”

The wine is delicious paired with delicately boiled white fish or fish prepared in light sauces, such as lemon butter. Raw, crisp or steamed vegetable dishes.

2014 Tolosa No-Oak Chardonnay

Tolosa-No-Oak-ChardonnayFrom the Wine Maker – “This pale greenish gold wine opens with the aromas of honey, lemon, apple and peach. There is some underlying minerality that is close to flint. The mouth is fresh with floral aspects evident in the mid-palate. Additional nuance and silkiness develops as it sits in the glass.”

Great with fish or chicken cooked in light butter sauces since the wine is crisp enough to cut through the fat of the butter. It is a delightfully versatile wine that compliments a wide variety of foods.

2007 Three Saints Pinot Noir

The Dierberg Vineyard is situated atop a sandy loam mesa above the South Bank of the Santa Maria River. The ranch features a series gently rolling hills and soils that are uncharacteristic of the growing area. The higher loam content and slightly heavier texture of our soil tends to produce Pinot Noirs that are more powerful in structure and more savory in flavor-profile than is typical for the Santa Maria Valley.

From the Wine Maker – “Our most overtly fruity and exuberant Three Saints Pinot to date, the 2007 shows bright blackberry, crushed raspberry and subtle black tea notes. On the palate the wine is both vibrant and luxuriously rich, with decadent creamy blackberry flavors underpinned by satiny tannins and a blast of fresh acidity. Although our 2007 Three Saints Pinot will age well for up to three years, it would be a shame not to drink it now for its almost primal sense of gratification.”

A great complement to wild salmon. Also try with roasted duck, grilled lamb, mushrooms, and medium cheeses.
