2012 Sheriff of Buena Vista Red

The story of our founder is as long as it is colorful. One of California’s first sheriffs, Agoston Haraszthy was elected the Sheriff of San Diego County in 1850. He built the first jail and served two exciting years before moving north to pursue “purple gold” and the perfect terroir for fine wines. He found it in Sonoma County where he established Buena Vista Winery in 1857. It is his legacy that inspired this wine and the work of sheriffs everywhere that we honor with its release.

From the Wine Maker – “The Sheriff of Buena Vista is deserving of its name. This bold Sonoma County Red Wine is an authoritative blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Grenache, Petit Verdot, Syrah and Merlot. Inspiring dark red fruit aromatics arrest the senses while rich raspberry, blackberry and semi-sweet chocolate flavors are deliciously unleashed on the palate.”

This wine goes well with BBQ Pork, Grilled Portabella Mushrooms, Gourmet Cheeses, Lasagna Florentine.

2012 Allegrini Palazzo Della Torre

This is one of the wines that has made Allegrini famous throughout the world. The vineyard surrounds Villa della Torre, a splendid masterpiece of Renaissance architecture now owned by the family, and produces a full-bodied red wine that has an ageing potential of at least ten years. The blend is the historic combination of Corvina and Rondinella with the addition of a small quantity of Sangiovese. A small percentage of the harvested grapes are left to dry out until December and then added to the previously vinified fresh grapes. The result is a velvety, well-balanced red wine that proffers mature, pulpy fruit.

From the Wine Maker – “Aromas of dried earth, dried raspberry and blueberry. Full body, chewy tannins and a fresh, bright finish. Lively and delicious.”

Easily pairs with various Italian dishes, above all risottos, especially those flavored with saffron, porcini mushrooms and pork; classic dishes such as pasta with amatriciana and carbonara sauces, baked lasagna, gnocchi with gorgonzola cheese and walnuts; grilled meats and roasts. This wine also excels when matched with Parma ham and fine-cured zibello pork loin, as well as medium-matured cheeses, especially parmigiano reggiano, pecorino and Monte Veronese.

2012 Freemark Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon

From the Wine Maker – “Opaque, dark ruby color introduces this wine that expresses dark fruit aroma and flavors. With spicy sweet oak complexity, the wine exudes dark fruit such as blackberry, black currant, blueberry and dark cherry. There are nuances of dark chocolate, chocolate berry truffle dusted with cocoa powder, cola, aromatic cedar, cinnamon, clove, graham crackers and a hint of tobacco. The body is very full with a soft entry, coupled with dark cherry/berry flavors that develop from start to finish. With great texture and mouth feel, this cabernet is full bodied, rich and opulent. In one word…. delicious.”

2012 Beringer Napa Valley Chardonnay

Beringer-Napa-Valley-ChardonnayBeringer’s Napa Valley Chardonnay is a vibrant expression of this beautiful varietal and the depth and complexity of flavor it can exhibit. Winemaker Laurie Hook chooses complementary lots from AVAs in the cool southern end of the valley to craft a wine that is the quintessential expression of Napa Valley terroir. Beringer’s Chardonnay vineyards span several sub-appellations in southern Napa Valley, where fog from the San Pablo Bay works its way north most afternoons during the growing season, cooling the vineyards and allowing for a longer maturation period. The majority of the blend comes from our Big Ranch and Yountville vineyards, located on the valley floor. These vineyards produce Chardonnays with fine fruit flavors and crisp natural acidity.

From the winemaker – “Refreshing, crisp citrus notes accentuate this lively Chardonnay. A medium, rounded mouthfeel is highlighted with flavors of lemon meringue and a pleasing acidity.”

2014 Stags Leap Napa Valley Chardonnay

The fruit is hand-picked and whole cluster pressed. In order to preserve the minerality, fresh acidity and clean fruit characteristics, this vintage did not undergo malolactic fermentation. A portion of the wine (25%) has been fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity of the fruit while adding layers of taste and complexity. The wine was aged on the lees in French oak (25% new) for six months, and stirred weekly during maturation.

From the winemaker – “Aromas of lemon zest, tart white peach and crisp pear show generously in this refreshing cool-climate Chardonnay. On the palate, vibrant citrus fruit intensity is balanced by a wet stone core and nutty undertones. Focused, yet generous in style, the wine has notable acidity that maintains freshness and lasting lemon minerality that adds complexity.”
