2008 Conn Creek Anthology

This great red blend is made up of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon from, 12% Malbec, 11% Merlot, 7% Petite Verdot, and 4% Cabernet Franc. Grapes were sourced from nearly all of Napa Valley’s appellations.

From the winemaker – “Berries, violets, allspice and freshly baked pastry unite in an offering reminiscent of berry pie. The aromatic potpourri prominently features bright cherry flavors and sandalwood-tinged cocoa spice. Handsomely sculptured tannins showcase the mouth-watering fruit compote in the long, lingering finish.”

This wine goes well with pork chops cooked in a variety of ways, even spicy, or BBQ spare ribs. Firm and savory cheeses like Cheddar.

2008 Bodega Septima Chardonnay

Bodega Septima is a Mendoza, Argentina based winery. The stated goal of Bodega Septima is to produce wines that take into account both Argentine tradition and modern global techniques. The 2008 Bodega Septima Chardonnay is produced from grapes in their Luján de Cuyo vineyard; 3,900 feet above sea level. This offering is 100% Chardonnay. This wine was aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels.

From the winemaker – “Fresh, fruity and very complex. Intense green apple notes and tropical touch fruits. Elegant and subtle. It presents a soft and fruity impact that turns buttery on the palate. Its balance between acidity and alcohol ive a great distinction and an attractive finish in mouth.”

This Chardonnay is an excellent accompaniment for fish, poultry and lightly sauced entrees.

2008 Lander-Jankins Chardonnay From the winemaker – “2008 is the inaugural vintage of Lander-Jenkins Chardonnay and shows why this is the most popular variety in the U.S. Produced from carefully selected vineyards, cooler sites give us a wine with crisp acidity and bright fruit. Fragrant aromas of pineapple, lemon zest, orange zest, dried apricot, and vanilla. A rich, luscious mouth feels with flavors of Bosc pear, apricot, peach, French vanilla, and a long creamy finish.”

We have read reviews that this wine pairs nicely with Appetizers such as; crab cakes, escargots that are sautéed with garlic, chicken or goose liver pate’s & cheese puffs. Cream style cheeses like cottage, cream cheese, or fromage blanc, mozzarella, semi-hard cheeses like mild Cheddar, Fontina, Jarlsberg, Swiss or Gouda, soft rind cheeses like Brie.

2008 C&T Cellars Backyard Chardonnay

C&T Cellar is a small operation that focuses on quality wines from the Napa Valley. The 2008 Edna Valley Chardonnay came from two neighboring vineyards within the Appellation. Both cool climate vineyards with long track records for producing quality wines.

From the winemaker – “Nice green apple, pear and honeysuckle aromas, on the palate the wine is very well balance with wonderful acidity and texture. Green apples, pears and apricots dominate the palate with a perfect amount of creaminess to hold up to the acidity. This non-malolactic fermented chardonnay delivers a fabulous mouthful of flavors with a long finish.”

This wine pairs nicely with rich seafood dishes, roast chicken or pasta with cream sauce.

2008 Screenplay Napa Valley Red Wine

With vineyards spanning the Howell Mountain, Saint Helena, Yountville, Oak Knoll and Wooden Valley appellations, this first vintage is a must try. Screenplay is a blend of 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 17% Syrah, 11% Malbec, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Viognier sourced from Trent Moffet’s favorite, family owned vineyards in the Napa Valley none of which exceed 3.25 acres. Only 483 cases produced of Act 1 of this Screenplay. It’s delicious. Full-bodied, rich on the palate with ripe black fruit, a smooth creamy texture, good acidity, and well-integrated oak.

From the winemaker – “The Screenplay Red Wine offers generous fruit with amazing complexity of flavors, delivering rich, concentrated, supple layers of currants, blackberry, black cherry, spice and mocha, with a subtle hint of earth.”

Foods with complex flavors match the complexity of red blends. Pepper steak, well seasoned beef or lamb, rich stews, pâtés and strong cheeses such as blue cheese and stilton, are great pairings.

2008 Colosi Sicilia Rosso

Made from 100% Nero d’Avola, Colosi 2007 is a great, rich and generous everyday wine from Sicily. It has a ruby color with an expressive nose, quite intense with complex aromas of plum and dark cherries. Dry, medium bodied and well-balanced, the palate is fairly dense and earthy with ripe fruit flavors mixed with hints of spice. The overall profile of the wine is pleasant, friendly and versatile.

From the winemaker – “The color of this Sicilian gem is an intense dark ruby-red. The nose consists of aromas of black licorice, black currant, tar, tea leaf, and tobacco, which all develop into a fantastic and very complex bouquet while in the glass. Soft and ripe flavors of cherry, plum, and sweet tobacco followed into a nice smooth finish.”

Enjoy with Pasta with Meat, Bolognese or ragu sauces, meat lasagna or hard cheeses like Parmigiano or Romano and firm cheeses like Cheddar.

Excellent value, this Idaho Riesling starts freshly sweet, with flavors of crisp green apple and pear, finishing with a clean, lively acidity that leaves you wanting more.

From the winemaker – “This wine has a great nose filled with apple, pear, peaches and a hint of mineral. This wine has residual sugar and balanced acid that provide complexity to this fruity wine. Will pair well with sausage and spicy dishes. Enjoy this off-dry Riesling with friends and family.”

This wine pairs nicely with cajun barbecued shrimp, gumbo or pan-blackened fish, chicken with mole, salsa and tortilla soup. Cheeses like gorgonzola, blue cheeses, cottage, cream cheese, parmesan, reggiano, mild cheddar, fontina, gouda, jarlsberg, swiss, brie, and other soft rind cheeses.

2008 Graham Beck Chardonnay Viognier This white wine is mostly chardonnay (90%) with a portion of viognier (20%) making it a first-rate companion to food.

Serve as an aperitif, with exotic seafood or Asian dishes with a hint of spice.

2008 Naked Earth Blanc Vin de Pays d’Oc

This organic white blend features rich tropical fruit flavors that also carry a lot of minerality. Fresh and lively, with a finish of golden raisin and spice. 30% Grenache Blanc, 30% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Viognier.

From the Wine Maker – “A clean, pale gold color, accented by the Chardonnay in the wine. The nose is floral and full, with scents of apricot and apple. On the palate Naked Earth Blanc is crisp upon entry, with immediate notes of lemon and grapefruit, moving into more flavors like vanilla and hibiscus flowers. It ends on a dry finish with gripping texture, coming from the wines’ generous minerality and balanced acidity.”

This wine is excellent with pasta in light wine sauce like lemon-flavored olive oil or spicy Asian noodles. It also goes well with caesar or green salads with light to medium dressings.

2008 Rutherford Ranch Chardonnay Delicious stone fruit characteristics and delicate tropical aromas and flavors distinctively reflect the Napa Valley fruit in this wine.

From the Wine Maker– “This characteristic Chardonnay starts off with aromas of freshly picked apricots and sweet honey. The fruit theme continues with scents of crisp green apples and just peeled lemon zest followed by hints of vanilla and crème brûlée. Full bodied, with beautiful balance, this Napa Valley Chardonnay with flavors of ripe peach, pear, vanilla and crisp Meyer lemon are perfectly balanced leaving your palate with a clean, crisp finish.”

This Chardonnay is perfect for a summer afternoon – slightly chilled it is refreshing to drink this wine on its own or while grilling fresh salmon or sea bass with fresh herbs.
