Bordeaux wine labels can be confusing. Basically, a Bordeaux wine is any wine produced in the Bordeaux region of France; which is the largest source of fine wine in the world. Chateau de L’Estang is found in Cotes de Castillon (in the southwest of France) and its Bordeaux is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Robert Parker– “Another sleeper of the vintage, the opaque ruby/purple-tinged 2009 l’Estang exhibits lots of sweet black currant and black cherry fruit intermixed with a hint of vanillin. Medium to full-bodied, with surprisingly pure, concentrated, lengthy flavors, it should drink well for 5-6 years.”
Great with rack or leg of lamb, lamb chops, roast pork, pork chops or tenderloin, or Parmigiano, Romano and other hard cheeses as well as cheddar and other savory, firm cheeses.
