Chateau Vieux Brandard “Bel Air” 2009 is an excellent cuvee composed of 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvigon, and 15% Cabernet Franc selected by Jean-Luc Thunevin, from a parcel of land called “Bel Air.” The high Merlot content gives it a soft roundness and a lovely texture. The Lussac-St. Emilion appellation is located on the right bank of the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, about 45 kilometres (28 mi) from city of Bordeaux or 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) from the medieval village of Saint-Émilion. It is one of the so-called “Saint-Emilion satellites” situated around the appellation Saint-Émilion AOC itself.
From the winemaker – “Decadent aromas of foie gras, meat and berries follow through to a full body, with velvety tannins and a juicy finish. Intense and succulent. Needs three or four years to start to open.”
The clean, vibrant acidity of this wine makes it an ideal accompaniment to beef and lamb dishes.
