Henri Bourgeois is consistently one of the best growers in Sancerre; they make beautiful wines that are highly awarded. They are undeniably one of the most important producers of the region. The Sancerre vineyards are spread over chalky, stony soils, rich in marine fossils. They lie on a series of southeastern facing slopes that, from a distance, form one large hill interrupting the flat waterways of the upper Loire.
From the winemaker – “La Porte du Caillou” is a wine that offers aromas of exotic citrus fruits with a subtle yet powerful seductive intensity. Its length originates in the harmony and quality of the soil.”
A delight at the beginning of the meal, La Porte du Caillou is an excellent companion to fish dishes. Kernel of scallop with mango emulsion, a roll of bass in curry and of course, the famous Crottin de Chavignol goat cheese.
