2010 Quattro Mani

Quattro Mani, or “four hands,” showcases celebrity Italian winemakers who express the character and strength of Italy’s rich viticultural heritage, interpreted through their unique personalities. These winemakers were selected for their skill in allowing vineyards to speak through the wine, reflecting the belief that the essence of a region can be best expressed through its traditional wines. Quattro Mani wines are produced from estate-grown fruit using sustainable agriculture, and are bottled at the source. Fermentation for this great red took place in stainless steel tanks for 6-7 days, then aged for five months in large Slavonian oak barrels.

From the Wine Maker – “Aromas of blackberries, plums and sweet spices give way to a ripe and juicy pallet with soft tannins and a long, fresh finish.”

A classic match with prosciutto. Also try this great white with seafood and fish, pork and Asian/spicy dishes.

2009 Gallo Signature Series Chardonnay

Robert Parker: …the 2009 Chardonnay Signature Series from Russian River is potentially outstanding. Barrel samples of other wines also looked impressive. The flagship winery in the Ernest and Julio Gallo empire, the Gallo Family Vineyards has produced a bevy of delicious reds and whites. While I know many readers remember Gallo from the old days of hearty Burgundy and Chablis blanc, they have long been committed to high quality, which is evident in not only these wines but others from their huge portfolio of wine estates.”

Enjoy with cornish game hens, duck or turkey prepared in rich, hearty or heavy sauces or hard cheeses like Parmigiano or Romano and firm cheeses like Cheddar.

2009 Ecco Domani Chianti

Sangiovese is the main grape component of Chianti, one of Italy’s best known wines. Our Sangiovese grapes originate in the hills between the Provinces of Siena and Florence within the renowned Chianti area of Tuscany. This area is known for a warm, sunny growing season, with substantial temperature differential between day and night. Such conditions produce flavorful, rich grapes. The cultivation of these grapes can be traced back through the centuries to ancient Greece and Rome. In fact, the word Sangiovese is derived from Latin “sanguis Jovis,” or the blood of Jupiter.

From the Wine Maker – “Ecco Domani Chianti is a clear, ruby-red color, with a deeply fruited bouquet of cherries and fresh raspberries. This wine is lively and fresh on the palate, with soft, rounded tannins followed by a long, fine finish.”

The fresh, well-structured character of this wine makes it an ideal complement to all types of pasta, hors d’eouvres, and red or white meats.

2009 Chateau Haut Treytin Bordeaux

Paired with Roadst Pork & Creamed  Spinach.

Andre’ — “This is a straight forward, old world style Bordeaux. What some might call austere, I find inviting. This wine reminds me of the Mondavi Cab. from a decade or two ago. Nice fruit acid balance, strong but velvety tannins. In my mind this is what Red Wine is supposed to be. Not the overly fruity, alcoholic stuff that so many wineries are turning out lately. I like the way this wine is drinking today, I like the way the flavors change in the glass, and I am also thinking of buying a case to see how it develops over the next few years.

As far as food, I like a nice piece of lamb with Bordeaux, but any protein will do. roast a chicken or pork loin, grill a steak, make some nice potatoes and finish it off with creamed spinach.

For 8 servings you will need 2 pounds of spinach, some olive oil, a few cloves of garlic, Wondra Flour, 1 cup heavy cream, and some Parmesan cheese.

crush the garlic and warm it in the oil. Remove it when it starts to sizzle. Add a big handful of spinach and dust with the wondra. Continue to add, stir, and dust until all of the spinach is in the pan. Now add the heavy cream and stir constantly to a boil. Finish with the cheese and check for salt and pepper. Adjust consistency as needed. Enjoy this spinach with your roast and a very affordable example of a delicious Bordeaux.”

From the winemaker:

“The 2009 Chateau Haut Treytin is a vibrant purple in color, supple, and bursting with ripe spice and berry aroma. The bright fruit is balanced by a heady spiciness that tames the power by adding a light rustic quality. Alternating between strength and finesse, floral aromas dominate the lengthy finish, adding depth to a true gem that will continue to evolve for 10–15 years.”

2007 Villa Antinori Toscana

This wine was introduced in 1928 by Marquis Niccolò Antinori, as the first Chianti ever produced suited for being aged and improving over time. In 2001, Piero Antinori launched a new step in the evolution of Villa Antinori, making it a Tuscan IGT produced with the best selection of grapes originating exclusively from estates located in Tuscany. This Italian gem is a great red blend consisting of 55% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 5% Syrah.

From the Wine Maker – “The wine has an intense ruby-red color. It offers full and complex aromas which recall ripe fruit, plum jam, mint, chocolate, and tobacco. In the mouth, the wine presents itself with good body; it is round, with soft, velvety tannins. The finish is long and lingering, leaving hints of ripe fruit on the palate.”

This wine is an excellent companion for fish and meat carpaccios, shellfish, spicy seafood, seafood pasta and soup dishes.

2010 Robert Mondavi Private Selection Chardonnay

In 2010, our Central Coast Chardonnay grapes enjoyed an extended period maturing on the vine, which produced fruit with impressively concentrated flavors. The natural roundness of our Chardonnay was enhanced by partial barrel and malolactic fermentation coupled with extended aging on the yeast lees, resulting in a luscious, complex wine. The blend is made up of 98% Chardonnay, 1% Muscat Canelli, 1% Malvasia Bianca.

From the Wine Maker – “The nose reveals lemon blossom, pineapple, and peach aromas with smoky oak nuances along with enticing vanilla spice and toasty brown sugar flavors. The creamy, mouthfilling palate creates a lush impression and is balanced by a rich, lingering finish.”

Enjoy this delicious wine with rich seafood, poultry and pork dishes, white-sauce pastas – like fettuccine Alfredo, or flavorful, soft ripening cheeses.
